about

In the early 2000's, I recorded two experimental LPs in my dorm room. The first, "The Barbary Hooks," was an experiment in "automatic" recording: I would record a part, like a drum part or a bassline, without planning the rest of the song and then record the next layer, and finally edit it into a song once I felt there were enough layers.

Conceptually, I was trying to capture the feeling of losing mental control: "The Barbary Hooks" is a good record for a bad trip.

about

Building Rockets Austin, Texas

Building Rockets is occasionally a band and occasionally a bedroom recording project.

It sounds a little like The Pixies and Wilco covering Fountains of Wayne songs while “Abbey Road” plays in the background.
