Don't Mess With Texas

from Galapagos by Building Rockets

/

lyrics

I was goin' through Amarillo drivin' until dawn
When I stopped at the Stuckey's to get my coffee on
A man pulled up right next to me with a Stetson on his head
And a bumper sticker on his F-150 right below his gun rack said:

Don't Mess With Texas, kid
'Cause that's where all my exes live
And each one keeps a shotgun by the bed
Driver carries $20... in ammunition
To put your ass out of commission
So watch your step before you end up dead

So I got myself a Slim Jim and some caffeine for the road
But when I walked out the door, my rig was bein' towed
And on that tow truck's bumper, right beside the number "3"
I saw the biggest damn bumper sticker you ever did see
And it said:

Don't Mess With Texas, kid
'Cause that's where all my exes live
And each one keeps a shotgun by the bed
Driver carries $20... in ammunition
To put your ass out of commission
So watch your step before you end up dead

about

Building Rockets Austin, Texas

Building Rockets is occasionally a band and occasionally a bedroom recording project.

It sounds a little like The Pixies and Wilco covering Fountains of Wayne songs while “Abbey Road” plays in the background.
